Zion National Park

Bryce Canyon
Not a canyon but an amphitheatre of hoodoos — orange limestone spires eroded into bizarre shapes. Sunrise from Bryce Point turns them gold.
Arches National Park
Over 2,000 natural sandstone arches including Delicate Arch (Utah's icon) and Landscape Arch (the world's longest natural arch). Timed entry now required.
Antelope Canyon & Horseshoe Bend
The slot canyon near Page, Arizona glows with shafts of light at midday — Navajo Nation land (guided tours only). Horseshoe Bend's 270° river bend is a 1.5-mile walk from the car park.

Practical Information

Getting There
Fly to Las Vegas (LAS) or Salt Lake City (SLC). Rent a car — absolutely essential. The Mighty Five loop from Las Vegas is 7–10 days. From SLC is equally good.
Permits & Timed Entry
Angels Landing lottery permit required. Arches timed entry reservation required May–October. Antelope Canyon tour-only booking. Book 3–6 months ahead.
Mighty Five Loop
Ideal order from Las Vegas: Zion → Bryce → Capitol Reef → Canyonlands → Arches (Moab). Return via Monument Valley and Page for Antelope Canyon.
Moab & Springdale
Moab (gateway to Arches and Canyonlands) has the best restaurant and accommodation scene. Springdale (Zion gateway) is charming and walkable.
Costs
$35 per park or $80 America the Beautiful pass (buy it — pays for itself after 2 parks). Accommodation in Moab and Springdale gets expensive in peak season.
Heat Warning
Utah desert in June–August can exceed 45°C at canyon floor level. Carry 4+ litres of water per person per day. The Narrows and Angels Landing are dangerous in summer heat.
