Popular trails need permits months ahead (Half Dome, Angels Landing). Campsites book 6 months out. Some parks now require timed entry passes.
Yellowstone: bison, elk, bears, wolves. Keep 25 yards from most animals, 100 yards from bears and wolves. Dawn and dusk best for activity.
Stock up at towns near parks before entering. Park restaurants are pricey. Bring a cooler for road trips. Bear-proof storage required for camping.
Utah's Mighty Five a popular loop. California parks road trip excellent. Yellowstone–Grand Teton combo. Allow 2–3 days minimum per major park.
Pack out all trash, stay on trails, camp in designated sites, don't feed wildlife. The parks belong to everyone — treat them accordingly.
