America's Last Frontier — Denali, Glaciers & the Midnight Sun
About This Guide
Alaska is America at its most wild and humbling — a state twice the size of Texas with 3.5 million lakes, 100,000 glaciers, and more coastline than the entire continental US. Denali (6,194 m) is North America's highest peak. Brown bears fish for salmon at Brooks Falls. Humpback whales breach in Kenai Fjords. And in summer, the sun barely sets.
Inside the Guide
Every location is covered with practical tips, maps, and curated recommendations.
Six million acres of wilderness surrounding North America's highest peak. The park road (only one road, 145 km) is accessible only by park bus — extraordinary wildlife viewing.
Tidewater glaciers calving into the sea, humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, and puffins. Boat tours from Seward are essential.
The world's most spectacular bear viewing — brown bears catch sockeye salmon mid-leap at Brooks Falls. Peak viewing late July–September. Book months ahead.
The best city base for Aurora Borealis viewing (Sept–March). Chena Hot Springs, Iditarod culture, and the gold mining heritage of Alaska's interior.

Practical Information
Fly to Anchorage (ANC). Rent a car or campervan. Alaska Railroad connects Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks. Small planes essential for remote areas.
Bears at Brooks Falls (book very early). Whale watching from Seward. Denali bus for caribou, moose, Dall sheep, and wolves. Bear spray essential.
Best September–March in Fairbanks or northern Alaska. Download Space Weather app. Chena Hot Springs resort offers Aurora viewing packages.
Wild Alaskan salmon (king, sockeye, coho), king crab, halibut, reindeer sausage, and wild blueberries. Fishing for your own dinner is possible on many packages.
Alaska is expensive to reach but moderate within the state. Campervan saves accommodation costs. Book everything months ahead — limited capacity.
Alaskan mosquitoes are legendary June–July. DEET repellent is non-optional. Head nets recommended for Denali. They don't bite in coastal areas as much.
