About This Guide
Barcelona is Europe's most architecturally exhilarating city — Antoni Gaudí's organic masterpieces erupt across the urban landscape like something from a dream. The Sagrada Família has been under construction since 1882 and remains astonishing. Beyond Gaudí, Barcelona has the Gothic Quarter's medieval maze, Barceloneta beach, La Boqueria market, and one of Spain's greatest food and nightlife scenes.
Inside the Guide
Every location is covered with practical tips, maps, and curated recommendations.

Metro T-Casual 10-trip card saves money. Barcelona is very walkable between Gothic Quarter, Eixample, and Barceloneta.
Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà (La Pedrera), Palau Güell. Book all in advance — queues are brutal without tickets.
Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter have the highest pickpocket rates in Europe. Use a money belt, don't use phone while walking.
La Boqueria market, tapas in El Born, pintxos in the Gothic Quarter, seafood paella at the port. Vermouth culture is strong — try it at noon.
La Boqueria is touristy — try Mercat de Santa Caterina instead. Many Gaudí buildings require paid entry. Set menu lunch is excellent value.
Barcelona is in Catalonia — a distinct culture with its own language. 'Gràcies' (Catalan) or 'Gracias' (Spanish) both appreciated.
